I needed to care.

I found myself frozen. I had a great job, but I had to sell myself on my own work, every day. My work had no meaning or value for me. And I had no idea what to do about it. Eventually I was fired. Thank God.

My mission is to make your life a reflection of who you really are and what you care about.

  1. 2015

I hit rock bottom staring up at the ceiling of a communal jail cell in downtown Minneapolis, arrested for my second DWI. It became clear that I had no agency over my life. I didn’t want this, but I did it.

  3. 2017–2019

After I got fired, I cashed in my 401(k) and spent two years soul searching. I went to music festivals, I experimented with psychedelics, and I found the people who support and inspire me. It culminated in the jungles of Costa Rica, where everyone I met was inspired by how I sat with them. What I had to share resonated with more people than my small community in Minnesota.

  4. 2020

During the pandemic, I turned all my energy inward. Quitting tobacco (for good) was one of the biggest breakthroughs I experienced.

2021 started as “the year I was getting married”. It was, and will always be. It was also the year my dad passed. Thankfully, I learned to love him before he left us, and I got to enjoy some tender moments with my father. I gave his eulogy 3 days before I got married, while my wife was already carrying our first son. I’ll never forget the feeling of arriving in the northwoods of Minnesota for our honeymoon after the most emotionally intense week of my life. Beautiful, meaningful, and deep. But wow.

Simon arrived in February 2022, and the earth didn’t stop shaking for the next year. Our family struggled to find our footing as my business plateaued. Instability reigned, and I had to moonlight as a delivery driver for Target to support my family and keep the dream of doing “my work” alive. I still keep the neon yellow delivery vest in our front closet.

Along the way, I realized that I can do my work without any of the spiritual armor. I love it, but it’s not “the work”. It’s not about sound baths, cacao, or where the moon was when you were born. It’s about living your purpose, opening your heart, and owning how you show up. Simplifying my work in this way allows it to reach more people, without sacrificing the heart of the work. Everyone needs purpose.

I had built my life around lies. My actions and choices did not reflect what really mattered to me. In finding and relentlessly pursuing my purpose, I have moved into closer contact with what is sacred to me — the thing that matters more than results.

In exactly the same way, the world today is a lie. Almost no one wants the world we have, and we can never change the world until we’re honest about what we want.

We may do things we don’t want to do, but it’s our responsibility to be clear and honest about whether we want the life and world we have.
